Forward looking clubs are opting for a new digital membership solution from Future Ticketing which is set to disrupt the sports ticketing market.
The Digital Ticket App developed by leading ticketing solutions company Future Ticketing is revolutionising the sector in the UK and Ireland. First adopted by top Irish club Connacht Rugby, the Digital Ticket App is also now being used successfully by Coventry Rugby and rugby league sides like Castleford Tigers.
This latest software innovation from leading provider Future Ticketing is based on progressive web app technology and has been hailed as a game changer by clubs and their supporters.
“The shift from paper to digital is inexorable and at Future Ticketing we are proud to be leading the switch with our growing portfolio of partner clubs,” said Future Ticketing chief executive Liam Holton.
“Our Digital Ticket App is the natural next step on this exciting journey because it places our clubs at the heart of the ticketing offering while further easing the route to an enjoyable match day experience for fans.”
The product means that supporters have their digital tickets and account details with them at all times on their phones, either Apple or android, and they simply display the QR code at the turnstiles. Crucially, the new development means that tickets can be shared, so that if a ticket holder cannot attend, the app’s ‘friends and family’ function allows a temporary transfer.
Not only is that a boon to the supporter, it helps clubs ensure their grounds are full and are giving maximum value for money to the loyal fans. The Digital Ticket App allows clubs to get to know their customers better than ever, opening up a better understanding of large group bookings and when hospitality and corporate offers will work best.
“We’ve solved quite a few different issues by creating this app and we’re very pleased with the reaction from our partner clubs and their supporters,” said Future Ticketing client success manager Laura Dickinson.
“Installing and using the Digital Ticket App is a simple process for the fans and of course, the clubs are delighted their identity and branding remain central to the ticketing experience.”
Future Ticketing has an unrivalled track record in integration tech development and the functionality of the Digital Ticket App can be incorporated into existing apps through its API. Meanwhile, fans can use the app to review their ticket orders, access their tickets and update their personal details.
Season ticket holders or those who have previously interacted with a club simply add the app to the homescreen of their device. Because it’s a web-based application, it does not have to be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and it does not take up space on the phone.
John Murphy Marketing Operations Manager with Connacht Rugby said the app is a very flexible and easy-to-use platform.
“We wanted to move to a sustainable method of managing our tickets and digital ticketing was the solution. Not only is it more efficient for our supporters and our match day stewards, thereby reducing queuing time, it’s also more secure, safe, and allows for contactless entry into The Sportsground. It’s also environmentally friendly, thanks to the vast reduction in paper waste,” he said.
“The platform has led to a vast improvement in our ticket data, something we previously struggled with when it came to hospitality and corporate tickets. It also provides an additional benefit to season ticket holders who can now use the ‘temporary share’ feature to share their ticket if they cannot attend a game; replacing the traditional method of physically handing over their ticket. All in the knowledge of knowing that they have full control over their ticket.”
West Yorkshire rugby league club Castleford Tigers rolled out the app at the beginning of this season.
Chris Powell, Head of Operations at the The Mend-A-Hose Jungle based club said: “We wanted to move to a sustainable method of managing our ticketing offering including season tickets, but also in the easiest way to convert our fans from physical to digital season tickets. Our app is extremely slick, simple, and easy to use to both share tickets and also access tickets quickly on entry of a game.
“The added benefit of the digital ticket means we can now track each ticket holder in our stadium. It also means we can ensure our stadium is full each weekend, should season ticket holders be unable to attend or live a distance away but still want to support the club.”
Coventry Rugby’s Events and Fan Engagement manager Cieran McGorman says the Digital Ticket App has smoothed the match day path for the club and its supporters.
“We’ve been reviewing and upgrading our customer experience at Butts Park Arena this year with Future Ticketing. Our branded ticketing app allows us to scan customers quickly and easily through our integrated turnstiles,” said Mr Gorman.
