Founded in 1974 in Birmingham by renowned players Jonah Barrington, Geoff Hunt, and Kenny Hiscoe, the Professional Squash Association (PSA) has been a pivotal organization in the world of squash. At its inception, Barrington articulated the association’s goals: “Our simple aims are to coordinate as a professional players’ body and to protect that body’s interests on an international basis; to liaise and work with all the governing bodies, tournament organizations, and the sponsors to further safeguard the future development of competitive professional squash throughout the world.”
The PSA is dedicated to promoting the global interests of both men’s and women’s professional squash. Its mission is to elevate the sport by making the PSA World Tour a premier platform that showcases the pinnacle events of squash. With a roster of over 1,500 registered players and more than 800 events held annually across the globe, the PSA World Tour and the PSA Challenger Tour—both orchestrated by the PSA—display the sport at its highest level in some of the world’s most unique and picturesque venues.
The PSA World Tour encapsulates the essence of elite professional squash, blending athleticism, skill, fitness, tenacity, power, drama, and an unwavering passion for the game. The PSA Challenger Tour, meanwhile, serves as a vital proving ground for the sport’s most promising new talents, offering them the opportunity to compete against seasoned professionals.
Challenge
The PSA faced significant logistical challenges in managing ticketing for its global events.
The need to accommodate various local currencies, languages, and seating arrangements—ranging from seated to non-seated venues—necessitated the use of different local ticketing companies for each event. This fragmented approach made it difficult to standardize and streamline operations.
Solution
Future Ticketing collaborated with the PSA on an initial trial in the United States. The trial’s success, characterized by the platform’s flexibility and capability to handle multiple languages and currencies, led to a broader implementation across PSA events. The establishment of a unified data repository allowed the PSA to focus on understanding their global customer base rather than grappling with disparate ticketing systems and data retrieval issues from past events.
Future Ticketing now supports PSA events in diverse locations including Malaysia, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, providing a seamless and consistent ticketing experience across the globe.
