Future Ticketing is delighted to announce its partnership with York Stadium Management Company (York SMC), which administers and facilitates ticketing operations on behalf of York City Football Club and York RLFC who both play their home fixtures at the City of York’s LNER Community Stadium.
The stadium was opened for operations in May 2021 and, to date, has already hosted in excess of 220 fixtures with more than 430,000 tickets sold for those fixtures.
The City of York’s Council owned facility has 8,510 seats and is a multi-purpose venue which has also hosted fixtures for Leeds United first team, Leeds United Under 21s, Sheffield United Under 21s, Hull City Under 21s, the Rugby League World Cup 2021, Rugby League Summer Bash weekend, the Women’s Super League Grand Final 2023 and is scheduled to host a number of fixtures for the Rugby Union World Cup in 2025. In addition, the stadium has hosted several community fixtures, youth cup finals and been used for TV production filming.
Future Ticketing supported York SMC in the launch of York RLFC’s 2024 season ticket campaign on October 16, which created the opportunity for the club to provide digital access to supporters’ tickets through the bespoke Future Ticketing Digital Ticketing App. A video of this can be seen at the bottom of the press release.
Working in partnership, York SMC and the club will continue to support physical season ticket cards and in-person payments through online accessibility and Future Ticketing payment terminals.
Neil Gulliver, General Manager of York RLFC, said:
“We are pleased to be working with both the York Stadium Management Company and Future Ticketing in delivering this new ticketing solution. This system is working to help us deliver a better match day experience and improved fan journey that will help us continue to grow our fan base and fan engagement at the LNER Community Stadium.”
Future Ticketing was selected after a competitive process where the incumbent ticketing provider had decided to leave the market. This opened up a new opportunity for York SMC to revisit existing processes and move to a future proofing solution for all users of the stadium.
Martin Jesper, General Manager of York SMC, added:
“It was really important for us to enhance our offering to cater for our multi-club stadium usage. This was something Future Ticketing provided with the new ticketing platform and it helped us to use feedback directly from the clubs to ensure their expectations and needs could be fully accommodated. Future Ticketing has already shown us it is able to provide flexibility, transparency and independence for each club. Its integration with our access control partners, TeamCard, will also provide invaluable information on match day throughput and subsequent reporting that will help clubs better understand and connect with their respective fan bases to drive additional income.”
Future Ticketing Client Success Manager Laura Dickinson said she was proud to be associated with such a prestigious stadium project.
“Future Ticketing has successful partnerships with a number of rugby league and football clubs across the UK with whom we have been working on the digital transformation of their ticketing systems,” said Dickinson.
“That is why we are so excited about this unique partnership – providing a multi-club, multi-sport ticketing solution at a very modern stadium that has already hosted a number of high-profile events in the short time since it first became operational and with exciting plans for future opportunities already being in discussion.”
