Braehead Ice Centre and Glasgow Clan

Braehead Arena is a 5,200 seated capacity, multi-purpose events and sports arena on the banks of the River Clyde in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The venue is home to the Glasgow Clan Ice Hockey Team and the Braehead Ice Centre.

The venue also boasts a rich history of hosting other prime events such as World Championship Boxing, WWE professional wrestling, the World Curling Championships, and many entertainment events including Playhouse Disney and Dancing on Ice.

 Challenge

Prior to partnering with Future Ticketing, the Braehead Arena operated its ticketing across two very different types of business – ice hockey and ice skating – based on traditional ways and means including paper tickets and cash payments.

The challenge was to replace this legacy ticketing approach with a modern digital ticketing system that also had the flexibility to handle different business segments and multiple one-off or short-run events. 

Solution

Future Ticketing’s high-performance ticketing software was originally designed to provide solutions for horse-racing festivals and meetings which have a very complex range of ticketing requirements. Consequently, the software platform was able to comfortably resolve the range of solutions required by Braehead including the flexibility to move from seated to non-seated multiple event types for Glasgow Clan in the arena and for ice skating sessions, each requiring different infrastructure, bookings and time slots. With Future Ticketing, this was all possible in an easy-to-use solution.

Glasgow Clan is a Scottish ice hockey team that plays in the British Elite Ice Hockey League and has won the EIHL Gardiner Conference five times.

Since partnering with Future Ticketing, the team at Braehead Arena has leaned into our ticketing innovation through the adoption of the latest developments including the Digital Ticketing App, FT payment terminals and data capture for fan engagement events.

Tickets for the Challenge Cup, pre-season and Elite League games are set up with ease using copy event functionality and the club provides exclusive access to season ticket holders to purchase their season ticket seats for games.

Breahead Arena and Braehead Ice Centre

Following its success in working with Glasgow Clan, Future Ticketing then began working with the arena across multiple events including the Scottish Masters Football Cup, Battle of Legends Boxing fights, and Comic Con. In ice skating, patch, public sessions and Learn to Skate are all automated events and available online for customers to sign up and enter all required details for coaches in advance of sessions.
